About

Wayne Allen has been the maintainer since November 2012.

Postie was originally developed by John Blade followed by Dirk Elmendork then Rob Felty.

As far as I can tell there once was a guy named John Blade. He took some of the original wp-mail.php code and started hacking away on it. He actually got pretty far. About the time I discovered WordPress and his little hack – called WP-Mail at the time – he went on a vacation or something. There were some problems with the script, and it was missing some features I wanted. I hacked away at it and got it into a place where it did what I wanted. I started posting about it since I figured other people might want the features.

Best solution for former mailing lists

Postie made it possible for us to replace our “mailman” mailing list with a WordPress based forum.

We have a mix of people that are comfortable with web forum postings and another group that miss their mailing lists.

This group of people receive email summaries of each wordpress post or comment and they can send new posts or reply to current posts as comments using Postie.

Very good and useful plugin.

The author Wayne Allen provides excellent support and really tries to resolve any issues we users describe.

Really good plugin out of the box

Very impressed with this plugin! You can do some pretty complex processing of incoming emails if you have a bit of PHP coding knowledge. Out of the box, you can setup some very useful rules that will allow your site to get fresh content easily.
